However, Haiti’s government gave an approximate 30, 000 commercial buildings collapsed and 25, 000 residences were damaged or destroyed.

Some places which received major damage are Jacmel, Port-au-Prince and other parts of settlements region. Significant landmark structures were notably damaged and this includes the Port-au- Price Cathedral, Presidential Palace and National Assembly building.

Despite of the great help from many people around the world, it was a difficult scenario for the Haiti government during the rescue operation because of sea and land facilities, electrical connections and communication systems were damaged by the earthquake.
